The weird thing is, MMA in a way is more mainstream now. It's presented as more of a circus show than a professional sport. Boxing is presented in the same way as other professional sports, they don't really need to present it like a cross between a TV show and a circus.
No disrespect to you, but I do see MMA as more of a casual fight fan's choice, for people who just want some well presented entertainment, and a bunch of fights on the same night. Similar to wrestling really. Where as most boxing fans I know are very much fight enthusiasts and appreciate the sweet science.
The viewing figures are catching up a bit - the purses are not.
And honestly - until they do - all the top talent is going to stay in boxing. Why would they train to fight in MMA - a world class boxer earns millions, a world class MMA fighter earns thousands.

That's just a joke. Pride pays a bit better but still not close to boxing.
Do you know mayweather is getting at least 8 million for his fight with oscar, and oscar is getting 20 mil + with the PPV revenue?
The difference in earnings is astronomical, and until they start paying top dollar, they won't attract top dollar talent.
