anyone's area still in short supply? our local pediatrician ran out again!! they just had walk in's no apptmts so it was packed. we had reg. well being check up & still they made us wait 2hrs for our exam & then get our share of the H1N1 vaccine! they were treating all the walk ins 1st! that pisses off!

On base, we have roughly 1500 shots. They sent out a mass email about it. However, while the email stated that the "high-risk" group should go first, they aren't checking at the door, lol.

our pediatrician just emailed us saying they have more reg. flu vaccines for babies/toddlers only for now. gee, what about the older kids??

but for myself am not going out of the way to get mine unless I have a need to visit the doc.

fyi - earlier this yr when my daughter contracted H1N1 doc prescribed tamiflu then recommended other family members get it just in case. only myself, my son & my mom got it, wife & step dad not. none of us caught it but we practiced good hygiene habits at home so made sure mom & son minimized their risk.

so anyone read about the 4cases in NC that contracted H1N1 but not responding to tamiflu? they speculate strains are becoming more resistant.

also, more recent deaths from H1N1 but this time mentions with underlying health issues. but they do admit doesn't compare to deaths from the reg. seasonal flu.

Always have. Underlying issues have accounted for over 3/4 of the deaths, if I recall correctly.

well, this is an issue not to be taken lightly. cuz it can strike closer to home than you would expect.

my friend's daughter had a pretty bad cough but not signs of a cold, etc. but due to worry, they insisted the doc do something, so they prescribed a kids inhaler kit (a long wide breathing tube where u connect the inhaler on one side & face mask to child's face then she breathes it in twice, unlike adults which one just places in the mouth direct). helps her a lot. mom's fear of possible complications even tho tests came back negative.

so when one goes thru this experience, hard not to ignore the fear factor as parents.

NY & Long Island just reported 2kids died from H1N1 but there were no details on any underlying complications. at least give us more information.

these may be isolated cases but pray it doesn't come knocking on our/your door & our/your kids.

right now I am fighting a very bad cough - it's viral. no other symptoms that be flu like, doc says my lungs/chest sound find, throat is clear, nasal also. says he is seeing on avg 15cases/day with coughs but no other symptoms. but I feel miserable, my cough is the loudest & hardest cough around! & post nasal drip doesn't help matters either!

but we had quite a few cases of H1N1 that hit the H.S. teachers but not the students - strange.

so we all just have to be diligent in keeping ourselves healthy. I tried my hardest tho, but my colleague at work had a bad cough/coughing up phlegm & pretty sure I caught it from him. He doesn't even cover his mouth that's the sick part, so disrespectful to others!

& now I have to work black friday at 4am & get all those customers sick!

soon as I eat dinner gotta hit the sack! stayed home whilst wife & kids went to my inlaws - missing a great turkey meal & a neighbor invited me over but it would be against my better judgement if I were to be responsible to getting 14 people & kids all sick!

waiting for my kids 2nd H1N1 booster shot, so far out of stock again. now I am sick with a bad cough so can't get my flu shots in yet either.

not too many cases yet to hit our school district. a lot of strep going around tho.

so stay healthy all! I still say get both flu shots, at least for your kids or if you're a kid yourself!

my kids scheduled for dec22 for their 2nd or booster shot. so far kids have come down with a cough or cold but no flu, t.g.!!

I am getting over my terrible hacking cough. I must have the worst cough in the whole world, it is so loud & consistent!

stay healthy all!
