sushiray;3614036; said:can you point us to contrary information? that was just a quote from a philly research doc.
it just that the news continues to report many kids passing away who are otherwise healthy in a shorter period (pre-flu season) than during reg. pre-flu season.
granted there are 1000's more who die from reg. flu-related illnesses (underlying health conditions) than the from the H1N1 espec. the elderly.
thx

"From October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007, 73 deaths from influenza in children were reported to CDC from 39 state health departments and two city health departments."
Sorry for it being black.
Those numbers are from something CDC set up in 2004 called the "Influenza-Associated Pediatric Mortality Surveillance System". Please note, this is a voluntary thing, and not all states are participating in it. It is relying just on those who
A: Know about the program
and B: Actually report it.
Also, it should be noted that this is just the US. Worldwide, the Influenza kills 36,000 people per year. If you want, I can do some more digging to see if I can't find stats on infant mortality for the seasonal influenza.
