Haitiensis Growth Thread

Well it sounds like I’m on the right track then. My fish arrived yesterday morning and all are in good health so far. They were taking spirulina flake within an hour or so of being in the tank. They’re really small right now, like an inch nose to tail, almost looks silly in my tank but again I didn’t want to have to grow them in something smaller only to have to move them and cause additional stress. I’ll try and get some good pix of them today, although at this size they’re not much to look at lol.
Thanks for all the detailed information Jhay, these fish have been a species I’ve wanted to keep but was nervous.
Dude I cant wait to see them. Give it a few weeks/months and you’ll be able to identify a male. You’ll see those distinctive fins start to take shape

Ya I’m anxious to see them get some size to them, so far they’ve been readily accepting the omega one kelp flakes I’ve been feeding. I tossed in a couple small bloodworms yesterday and a couple of them were able to eat them. At some point this week I want to get some spirulina brine. Did you feed yours peas? If so, how?

Yes i did and they devoured them too. I bought a bag of fresh peas and you just thaw a few of them out and in water and squeeze them until the actual pea comes out of th shell. When they were small like yours I would mash the peas up into a past and put it in the take little by little. Turn your filtration off while you’re feeding them because the peas are kinda messy.

I’ve identified one out of my group that seems to have much more pattern already than the others, I’m anxious to see how he/she turns out

My male just always stood out amongst the others. I could always tell he was different. And then my female started to put on the jet black breeding dress and I knew exactly who my male and female were
