Get a H&K usp .45 that's top quality german steel and dependabilty but very costly to shoot .45's right now or any other cartridge other than a .22 H&K all the way there is no other brand.

Dont waste your time with a 9mm. You can empty a clip in a crack head and not even slow him down. I never understood the big craze for the 9mm. get a 40 or 45. I just got a 40 cal a few months ago and my dad carries a 45. you can blow a much bigger hole in a crack head with a 45.

And if your going to carry this for protection, i reccomment a 1911. You cant get a better protection piece and it looks good. dont skinp on ammo either. get some good quality hollow points so when you do need to shoot someone, they mushroom out making a bigger hole and spreading lead throughout their body.
a Glock is a good gun but ugly as hell. looks like a brick.

You must have never heard of hi cap mags, when they first came out they were all 9mm, now you know.

You ever been present and seen somebody shot multiple times in the head and keep coming? I did not think so.

More people are killed with 22s every year then any other round, explain that Mr. Big Round enthusiast.

It all comes down to shooting, if you can hit somebody, even with a 22, 9 out of 10 times you will win. If you miss them with your cannon, you are done...............

i have a glock 9mm model 27 and i have a colt 45 . the glock is fun to shoot but for personal protection i always carry my 45 . its never more than a couple of feet from me when i leave the house . lol ...

they are all safe if you keep your finger off the trigger until your sights on on the target............many serious shooters pin the grip safety on the 1911 to prevent it from causing a malfunction with a hurried grip.

if you dont drill yourself on safety rules dont own a gun imo

I tell my wife that nothing in the house is worth her killing someone over or risking her life in the dark against an unknown intruder. She's to stay in the bedroom and call 911. If they come through the bedroom door she can assume theyre coming after her and light em up.
she's a keeper!!:headbang2

if you plan on using a shotgun inside a house remember that the pattern will be very small ( a few inches in diameter) and it needs to be aimed like a rifle.........ime use a deer barrel with iron sights
or this is good too!! it shoots .45 acp ammo or .410 shells!!!

One of my favorite handguns for protection would probably be the double action .357 mag. another which is way to expensive the .44 is a vary nice weapon.

One thing that's great about revolvers is that if a round doesn't go off, you keep pulling the trigger. You don't have to worry about any jamming. I have a double action S&W Model 28, .357 Mag. It has had a bit of custom work done to it and everything has been taken apart and polished. It has the smoothest trigger pull I have ever felt plus it is a fun, accurate gun to shoot.

i am not a wheel gun fan.....got to be very careful to keep them clean so the time correctly.....

for auto users its tap.rack.bang ;)

just my 2 cents nothing serious :)

people are murdered all the time by a single round from crappy cheap off brand 9mm's. true, its sometimes refered to as a small cal, but aparently it seems to work.

if you carry a weapon or have one in your house please insure that you train yourself / get trained by a pro for the highest accuracy/safety possible, and use hollow points of some sort (if you miss in a neighborhood, it wont penetrate as many walls as ball ammo)

i have a 22, 9mm and 45cal semi autos. Which would i use for home defense??
whichever one is closest at the time (staggered throughout the house), i actually feel the most deadly with the 22, its a competition pistol / w bull barrell and i have shot man-sized targets in the head at 200yds. doesnt matter what cal, shot to the midle face will put a guy/gal down.
My 12 ga makes me feel the most safe, if zombies, elephants, tigers, aliens, orcas, or the killer clowns from mars try and get in my house, a 3.5" shell with 1.5oz slug will put a large chunk of them on the other wall...

back to your original question- you already have a 45, i suggest a 9mm for fun at the range and cost. you got a big bore already for defence..

anyone got a S$W 500, i want to shoot one please ?

vicious_fish, you have a great signature, very true.

I have no kids so i dont have to worry about that, unless my dog learns how to shoot...

but really im scared of zombies, so these are evenly distributed in the house id put grenades out too, but they wont let me...
