hard well water...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
bre i know my water is very hard well water... i havent tested it for the exact hardness but i know its very hard

I have one of these He doesnt have this much color yet though I also have a female one I can't wait till they breed... i havn't had any victorians before exept this one I couldnt believe it when I found a male and female at the lfs because around here It's near impossible to fing vics... how many kyogas do you have?? Its best to keep one male with several females or else they will fight like crazy till they kill each other.

i dont know what my ratio is.. i have 6.. they are too young to sex... one i know is a male hes bigger then rest so i can see his colors coming.....

bre i have a hardness kit i found from years ago i can give it a while but i dont have instructions... does anyone know... its the kit that the 3 bottles... edta indicator... calmagite solution and sodium hydroxide

what is a good kh for cichlids? I am oing to buy a kit soon so i can test mine they like hard water right?

How big are your kyogas? my fish all started breeding when they got to 4 in.

i was told they will start breeding at about 1.5 -2 inches... cichlids seem to grow rapidly.. i got red zebra, bumble bee and cobalt about 5 months ago all were 1.5 inches now all 3 are pushing 4 inches

Gh is the hardess of your water...The Kh I am referring to is your waters ability to hold a steady Ph, basically. I have a VERY low Kh which mean without the buffer my Ph wil drop like crazy. You can have hard water that still has little buffering capabilities. That is why I said to check your Kh just to be sure it is high enough as well.

A Gh and Kh of over 200 is good for africans.

gotcha... my ph stays constant as long as i keep water quality up ... i've never done anything to ph in the past so i didnt want to start now... but if that .2-.4 in ph is gonna make the difference of them breeding and not breeding i'll do it..
