Has anyone tried keeping a Largemouth Bass?

I had a joke lure that looked like a mermaid, jointed at the waist and about 4" long. It worked killer on LMB.
 
My friend threw in a little green rubber jig (sans hook), and his bass ate it, it passed through the fish (must've been painful coming out for the fish) and came out clear. A little while later it died. In that instsance I think he was stupid not the bass.
 
That's too bad, he should have used a line, cut the hook off, so the fish can never swallow it. I tried it once just to see, I don't think I'll do it again. It's not that fun to watch if you think about the consequenses.

Yeah sounds kinda like torture. Not as bad as feeding it a handful of BBs then putting a magnet up against the glass.

Why would you do that? You know it wil eat it, the dye is probably toxic, thats probably what killed it.

Yea he know it would kill it thats like feeding corn to a trout.They die.
