Have you been bitten by your fish?

Provoke it? Really?
These fish are skittish under the best conditions. I was moving the plants I had covering the top of the tank to retrieve a thermometer that had floated away.

What type of p was it? I've heard most are very skittish and usually back into a corner when you have your hands in the tank. Ive also heard most of time to get bite you have to aggravate it like chase it or poke it.

my large mouth bass attacks anything that breaks the surface of the watter, but id have to say being stung by my motoro was by far the worst, same as brich999 my tsn and tsnxrtc will swallow hands if not careful.

I've been bitten by numerous fish. My convict pair actually surprisingly hurt more than you'd expect! The 4.5" female and 5" male hurt bad when they bite together! I've been bitten by my uncles old 15" oscar which drew blood. I've been bitten by my aunts Caribe piranhas and they left marks which are still scarred.

I was bitten by my 14" arowanna yesterday, and my 11" jaguar today. It didn't hurt but did make me jump. LOL

Chase it or poke it? Are you for real? I don't appreciate the insinuation. What exactly makes you a fish expert, specifically, a Piranha expert?
Fish will bite for a number of reasons, not the least of which is aggression. When a fish feels that its space is being threatened it will defend its territory. Conversely, a fish feeling threatened will also defend itself, the difference being its done out of self preservation and not aggression.
I resent the insinuation that I would be harassing my fish inciting them to defend themselves. You are just short of an accusation and you dont even know me. Why not stop this internet-forum-genius-routine and leave this thread alone, at least the "advice" on why a fish would bite. This thread is "Have You Ever Been Bitten?"
