Got a free 20g. Housing my angels right now. They will be moved to the 50g later, and 20turned into a wetdry or given to my bro in law.
Also bought a 30g for my bro in law (newbie).

How did you get the 20g free?
 
Got a free filter as it wouldn't was "broken", I got it home cleaned the impeller and it worked fine, I set it up on a 30high. Now that mate has my 30 high for his Blue Rams. Got other things free, I've never bought a 2ft but have 3, got heaps of filter and lights but I can't remember how I got them all? someone was nice to me and I forgot who, oops.
 
I rescued an Oscar from a guy in 01-07. The guy was moving across country and didn't have room to haul or store a 240gln acrylic tank. He called me and said he was leaqving it in the back yard if I want it. I was on the road before we were done talking. Here's a pic of it at this time.

I got one ultra cheap from PetSmart ....but screwing a big box store is almost as good as free....
I was buying my first aquarium..didn't know what they were worth..so i saw a 29 G with hood and light and it was above a $39.99 sticker...so i asked one of the girls working if i could take it off the self and if it was the price...she says yes!!!!.so i figured i would never see something that cheap again...so i took it to the counter and they rang it in for $179..i was like WTF!! so i asked ...told her that i had already had the price confirmed by a sales assoc.....lond story shrt paid 39.99 plus tax...wooot woooot

hehe... i havent have any free tank yets! :(
i had to check local ads basically everyday to find a good deal!!!

however i have given free tanks to my friends to start them..
so far ive given my 10g, my 29g and my 40g all of which i scored at the ads.
 
i just recently got a 20 gal from one of my mom's coworkers. she got sick of having all the fish die and cleaning the algae so she gave it to me for free. she thought there was something wrong with the filter or tank or something... XD
 
I was curious and posted a request for fish tanks in my work classifieds and ended up with a 20 long, 45 gallon herp tank, and a 10 gallon saltwater with a clownfish all for FREE! Also, I had a friend who didn't want his RBPs anymore so I got three of them and a 20 gallon for free. I've since sold the RBPs and the tank they came in.
 
That's a great idea! I'm going to start doing that on local bulletin boards and what not :naughty:
