I've come close twice.

First was when I was shot at by a .38 during a drive by. Now keep in mind, I don't gang bang, that's not for me, but there are a lot of wrong time wrong place scenerio's that play out where I grew up. But I won't go further into that one.

Anyway, the second time was last November. I was riding my my Motorcycle on the 405 south. I was pulling onto the freeway off an onramp, the car in front of me was going about 30 MPH and not speeding up at all. So I looked over my shoulder and rolled on the gas in 2nd gear probably got up to about 75, which was about the flow of traffic, it was roughly 10 PM. Anyway, when I rolled on the gas and got into the slow lane on the freeway, the car that I just passed decided they wanted to get over now, so as soon I as I got alittle bit in front of the car, I'm assuming they weren't paying attention and they moved over, in the process clipping my back tire. Basically, it sent my bike into an immediate tank slapper (which is when the bike starts to shake back and forth very violently) and eventually this twisted my bars causing the bike to highside,(where is shoots you off the bike like a rocket over the top side) and this launched me clean into the fast lane, and I see my bike going past me into the car pool lane. I tumbled and slide for about 2-300 feet and my bike ended up about 500 feet further then where I stopped. Anyway, I was stupid and only wearing a T-shirt, didn't have my leather jacket on. Helmet and gloves where on though. My left shoe flew off because I hit the ground so hard. There was still on coming traffic and I could have swore I was going to be ran over. I hoped up full of adrenaline and ran across 4 lanes on the freeway not really thinking, just in shock. stuck my handout like a stop sign and ran as fast as I could, got to the side and sat there. Few minutes later, I realized I was bleeding pretty bad, then I couldn't move. I passed out and woke up in my bed bandaged up with severe road rash all over my upper body and legs. I couldn't move for a week. Anyway, that's my story.

I had a bad wreck on a three wheeler a few years ago. Luckly my buddy found me in time, I was not breathing. Don't remember the crash or the next 2 days after.

I caught dengue fever when I was 16, I was hospitalised and the doctors couldn't tell what was wrong with me. My condition deteriorated to a point where the doctor had to tell my parents my chances of survival was 50 / 50. My mum cried...

Here I am.

When I was 20, I was thrown from a vehicle at around 65 mph. I was test driving my modified '65 karmann-ghia (which had no seat belts). I was driving a twisty section of road w/ way too much gas. I let off the gas when I realized that I was going too fast, which resulted in trailing throttle oversteer. I tried to correct by counter-steering, but the vehicle ended up sliding off the road. There was a raised asphalt curb/edge that caused the rear driver side swing axle to buckle and the car to flip. At that point, the driver's side door swung open due to a worn striker plate. I was thrown into a roadside ditch next to a barbed wire fence while my car flew over me, landing about 50 feet past me, down the hill and towards the creek. The car actually cartwheeled, smashing all four fenders, but leaving the passenger compartment unharmed. The car was still running when it landed. In a moment of almost "slow motion" lucidity, I remember thinking, "Oh @#$%!, I have to shut off that electric fuel pump!" I ran down to the car and shut off the ignition, turning off the fuel pump. By then, some residents on the other side of the rural road had heard the accident. I asked them to call my parents and tell them I was okay. An ambulance, fire truck, and tow truck ended up showing up. I was unharmed except for some scratches from the barbed wire fence.

Is this the same car in your garage? Was this in WA?

No, it was in San Luis Obispo, CA, where my parents live.

Unfortunately, I had to junk the '65 ghia. :( I replaced the '65 with the '69 ghia that you saw gathering dust in my garage. The '69 is a much better car w/ front disc brakes, independent rear suspension, and three-point seat belts. Some parts from the '65 do live on in my '69 ghia, like the mahogany Grant GT steering wheel, Hurst shifter, and dual Weber 44 IDF carbs. :)

I had the same thing, but they caught it before I was in too bad of shape. I think I was like 4 weeks old.
