HA HA HA LMFAO This thread is better then watching an episode of Jeremy Kyle :-D
But seriously I hope that Ray is ok as you just beat me to getting her, would look great wit my Leo x BD Boy !!

LEE

if we all took rays out at the 1st sign of breeding damage no one would ever be breeding rays in captivaty

the bites are no worse than normal bite marks on a large fully mature female

my main concern was that she had not fed and she is a long way off being mature

its just damaged skin on her back not big chucks missing out of her disk

its just strange that members who never post in any of my threads come out of the wood work at the 1st chance to bash me

i dont mind and can take what ever you want to throw at me its just a hobby

Glad to see the cage it's a good idea. Wasn't worried about the actual damage just if the male continues it could cause the female to stop eating or just plain stress could kill it. Just lost a large male tiger due to a smaller male leo nipping at it not causing alot of damage just stressd it out so bad that it died in a little over a day. Just decided to be a little more cautious myself. My immature female xingu took over 2 months to start eating right after a mature male was trying to breed with it. Hope nothing like this happens to you.

what happend to the old tank t1 ? cant you move the male to there if he becomes a problem ?

or maybe a divider as someone said. i know its a big tank but just use bigger building blocks for the dividers. egg crate is fine for smaller tanks but for bigger tanks maybe customise a larger divider from the bread crates ( about 3foot long by 2foot wide at a guess for the larger black ones ) ? just an idea. if it could save the ray it could be worth a try or at least a handy back up idea if all else fails . hope the females well all the same and no preventative measures will be required :)

LOL

Anyways, T1 how did you make the box? Wire ties to tie the eggcrate together? This seems so much sturdier than just a regular eggcrate divider, I might try it next time.

yes make it the way you said with wire ties then put some big rocks on top

i have also use a cat cage in the past which also works great but this ray is a bit big for a cat cage

Hey t1karmann! i remember you having the sick ST and the ROLEX!!

But i was just wondering, would the ray not eating, not be caused by the bite marks but rather because of the new water condition adjustments?

today is looking like a good day for the leo

update

the bites are starting to heal and she it eating prawns

i am 100% sure i did the right thing by not moving her or the stress would have killed her

the male p14 is showing NO interest in her now

i took some pictures of when the bites happened but i wont post them until she is well on the road to recovery which should be next week

the bites are big white marks and had bits of skin hanging off the skin has now fallen off and around the edges of the bites is starting to turn black again

i had to work hard to get her feeding because no matter how much food you put in my tank something will eat it fast mainly the lince cat
