Healing open wounds

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Use the MB as a dip. Much easier and will be able to control.

Continue with the triple sulfa.

Keep the water clean...meaning make sure ur ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, and nitrate is less than 20.

Make sure the cloudiness in the main tank isn't from a bacterial bloom and check those parameters.

Look forward to seeing the ornate better.
does it make a difference if he isn't moving around? He just sits by the heater all day and doesn't really move. He used to be so active. Sorry for all the questions.....I've never quarantined a fish before.

The more active it is hence it's a more healthy fish. But for now keep an eye out for anything strange. Meds and frequent water changes will change fish behavior especially in a small tank.

Watch that heater. Or at least make sure there's a guard on it.

Probably its not active cause of the meds, when i dose prazipro the polys becomes less active and they dont eat much.
that's good to know. My mom keeps saying that he's sad in the QT. probably :/ But I want him to stay in there until the wound heals as much as possible....or until you guys say otherwise. lol.

I posted this thread in the Fish health forum, and one of the MFK staff said I could try to do a dliuted betadine topical swab. Anybody have any experience with those?

Charney Charney has made a good suggestion. Can do it or just watch since it's getting better.

I suggest the latter. Assuming it's getting better.

Okay! That's a good point. I'll keep doing the 25% WC and aquarium salt every 2 days. and post another pic tomorrow. I'd like to think it's getting better, but want to see some more progress before I do anything else. Thanks for the advice!:D

Charney Charney is awesome! Would have never thought of swabbing a fish. lol. The topical swab seems like a very practical and effective solution. Will definitely try it, if it comes to that point. Thank you! :)

Hows he doing ? Does the wound look like its smaller ? Just be patient do what the others are telling you....i hate having fosh in qt too

It is so hard to be patient.

the wound looks about the same as the last picture. Idk if its gotten much smaller. It still is pretty deep. Just not as bright red or swollen anymore. I hope it is still healing. Sorry I don't have a better update. Will try to post another pic tomorow. I've just been doing the 25% WC every two days. Noticed the ammonia was up to 4ppm two days ago.
