Healing open wounds

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Does the poly like to hangout in the heater?
I know he did when I got him a few months ago. He typically stays on the opposite side of the tank now..

Are you sure that the 'special cave' does not have sharp plastic edges?

I checked all caves/rocks/plants with my hand last week and it was relatively smooth on the inside and outside. Will check it again tomorrow.

okay so it's been a month. since the wound showed up.
1)Been doing 50% WC every week with aquarium salt.
2)Took out all potential sharp things in main tank.
3) Dosed with Prazi pro in the main tank. wound got less orange/red, but looked like it has been opened up again and getting worse.

*However, found that he has been squeezing behind the bubble strip and really anything he can get behind. Probably keeps opening the wound up this way.
**Also found that he likes to play near the hot heater. o_O Working with someone to make a heater guard since I dont have a sump.

FINALLY WAS ALLOWED TO BUY A QUARANTINE TANK! HALLELUJAH!
-10 gal QT, sponge filter, heater, sand, plastic plants, glass top. Will set up today. when he's in the QT tank, I plan on replacing gravel in main tank with sand and taking out his log.

Here is an update pic of his wound. Looks like it is getting worse. All other behavior/coloration is normal. He's still eating and very active.

kno4te kno4te . wound looks like it is getting worse. Waited probably longer than I should have, but wanted to go slow to see if the WCs, salt, and PraziPro helped and to see if wound would start to close up. Obviously not working.

What are my next steps? Any med suggestions for QT? Should I do the triple sulfa as suggested or is it too late for that? Current stock of meds: Prazipro, Maracyn 1, Maracyn 2. Will go out and buy whatever I need

Try some triple sulfa and a methylene blue dip. This should help.
