HELP bichir with big fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sounds like a race. Who’s going to eat the small polys first? Will it be the bullhead or the ornate.? Both are likely candidates especially after lights out.

Great example of why we want to research our fish before we buy them, not after. Been there before.

You can try to separate with eggcrate light diffuser. Might need to make 2 sections and off set them so the holes are half size. The small polys would most likely squeeze through a single set of egg crate.

What is the outcome of this mix?
btw I always do research on my fish. Its just that this was the biggest one. and I though it was big enough but it was a guess indeed. I was just to enthusiastic when I saw it... its stupid but he is alive so I hope it turns out well

You are keeping a spaghetti noodle with a vacuum cleaner and hoping that stuffing enough crumbs in the hose will keep it from getting the noodle. If you are that enthusiastic about the fish than you should put a divider in until they get bigger. Pictures would also help.

I know... Its fcking stupid..... I really regret it. but a divider is not possible because of my background. And it would probably give problems as well with the other predator fish living in a smaller part. Any other idea's?

the only tank where I can put the little guy in right now is my shrimp tank... Its an option but I will have no shrimps left if I do that.

I dont think that the catfish will eat him. Im more scared of the ornatipinnis

Wow. I just re read what I posted yesterday. I sound like a total jerk there.

That was not the intent. I apologize for my dark humour.its always funnier when it’s someone else’s fish involved. I know It can be a stressful situation when you are hoping one fish will not eat the other. I know this situation all too well...

Rehome the bullhead otherwise you will wake up to less fish one day.
I have been trying to rehome them for almost a year but no one wants them. but its okay the bullheads leave him alone.
