Negative, he will be fine. I have used prime for over 5 years with no issues.

One way to test that is test the tap water, if it is still high than test something like distilled water.

Do just a tad over a cap full initially. Then add accordingly every time you do awc

Yes I am using the test kit correctly. My tap water tests absolutely no nitrates. Tank is through the roof. I am going to add a cap and a half? Then test same time tomorrow, or later this evening....

All I know is it a Rena....came with the tank. Is bigger than the fluval 305. Have had it up and running for a little over 4 years and never a problem. now this.
