I thought Epsom salt was bad for fish.... it could be a burn you mighr want to do some water changes to get that salt out of there.

*Sigh.....duck* No Epsom salt is not bad for fish. Many people use it to treat fish for many different reasons...

That Epsom salt should be fine, I have used it in the past with no problems. Did you check your Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels?

Not my fault you're posting on threads I'm posting on, you haven't really contributed to the thread anyways.

Epsom salt is used to reduce swelling, help with constipation (which the fish looked constipated), and help remove internal parasites when used correctly. Aquarium Salt is a waste of money, there are other salts you can use that give the same effects without costing you as much. Those kinds of salt are very different from Epsom salt and have different effects. Salt salt is used to heal wounds, and treat for external ailments like ich.

chrisplosion, don't go anywhere. a friend gave me a test kit. have never used it, cuz i never had any problems. but, i am gonna try to use it now. be right back with results

Yes your Nitrates are unbelievably high, 50% now and another later tonight or in the morning.

I don't think you did the ammonia one right, there should be two bottles. Add 8 drops from each bottle, shake and then wait 5 mins.

Nitrate you add 10 from the first bottle. Shake the second bottle for 30 seconds and then add 10 drops. Then shake the tube for a minute and wait 5 more mins.
