Help getting oscars to breed.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you have time, can i see you're setup? I would love to see the size of you're fish and the pot. The reason i ask is the simple fact that, if the pot angle is difficult for the male. It might pose a possible failure to fertilization. I love large vases, the smaller one i had recently in my take might've caused the eggs not to be fertilized. I was hoping that they would be from my dempsey dream match. I know it becomes a headache. " How painful it is"

Bingo! use a bigger plant pot holder or piece of slate. The problem might be, because the items you're using for them to lay eggs on are too small. Remember the part i mentioned, about difficult angle's? That might be it! Those fish are beautiful and massive. Please! get them something larger to lay eggs on and watch the magic happen. They deserve a treat!

Lets cross our finger and hope for the best. Do keep me updated as i will be on tomorrow. Sounds really good so far. Seen the updated pic looking good bro!

All good advice.
1. Cold water changes. Frequent changes. Clean gravel.
2. Keep water a little warmer. 82F?
3. Live food - crickets. If you have fed before and they ate them this could help. No feeders.
4. Large flat rock/ pot. Seems ok. They have already layed eggs on it.
I haven't bred them. I believe Jex has. If they continue to lay eggs but they never turn brown or if the oscars eat them the male may be infertile/ sterile.

Need some info females tube is dropping males hasnt no eggs have been dropped is it only a matter of time?
Sounds like it, was the same way with Casper and Goldie, totally looked like spawn time.....they would do it a day or two later
