I know it will be a while, but won't that tig outgrow your tank eventually anyway? Better to lose it now than in another year or two when you are even that much more attached to it.

I don't think he'll outgrow the tank. Planet Cafish states they only grow aobut 20" in the aquarium.

I can only imagine, when I first did the reply I quoted Nic's "bye bye dovii" and had a long explanation as to what was best to do.

Then I came to my senses erased it all and went with keeping the dovii

If you keep the dovii you're looking at a single fish in that tank in the long run.

I guess that what I have to start planning for.


I'm really surprised that in the CA/SA section the poll is 13-6 so far with the cichlids losing out to Datnoids and a catfish. I really need another tank.

You know I have had more trouble with attempting tankmates with male dovii in the 10-15 inch range. When I have had bigger ones at around 20 inches I have found them to be less agile and not as prone to anger with other fish if the tank is large enough. At least when there is adequate cover. I am just surprised you have made it work to this point. Makes me want to try in my 8 ft tank with my 13 inch male. I doubt it will work, he is psycho!

id sell the tig. to me its a overpriced and not much better version then the tiger shovelnose. i would deff keep the dats. so whatever arrangements you need to do in order to keep the dats thats what id do personally.

Tigs are badazz, go with some more peaceful sp.

i say keep the dats and i will try to keep the dovii with tankmates for you. he could have a good life in my pond. my cats are bad asses and could handle a dovii.

sell the tig and get another tank with the $$$$ for the dats and the other peaceful sp. that you want.
and maybe a nice gigas pleco for the dovii tank.
