Help! identifing(red Terror) yes/no?

id say FH although it may have some festae in it (looking at the occelli)

from the first set of pics I would not have ruled out the possibility that it could be festae. from the second set of pics I'd say it's less likely. and for the record, even at 1-1.5" a festae can be identified as compared to red devil or midas at the same size. if I could see that fish in person I'd be much more likely to be able to tell you if it's festae or not but without being able to see the fish it's hard to say. One thing I noticed though, even though the vertical bars are faded in all the pics, it doesn't look like the first 2 bars form a Y which is one of the primary characteristics of a festae.

To the original poster: next time you're in the store, look very carefully at the vertical stripes and look to see if those first 2 vertical bars form a Y shape. If they don't then it's definitely not a festae and much more likely to be either some type of flowerhorn or a red devil/midas.

thanks...actually I had taken a bit of a sabbatical..lots of life changes in the past year but now I have a job where I have internet access and quite a bit of free time in the afternoons so I've been checking in more the last few days.

This is a Red Devil(Midas) cichlid i have breed these fish numerous times and this is 100% Red Devil

I don't think there's much point in guessing what this fish is anymore, you'd probably be better off just asking. After all this post is from 9 months ago....

This is not a FH because i have FH's. But here are more pictures as requested (i tryed my best, camera phone is all i have) He does have vertical stripes that are starting to fade away but you can see it.

Definitely not a Festae...sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear.

Never seen a Festae with red eyes, the Ocellus spot looks wrong...the blotches aren't right either.
