I had 22 dats. they were in a 12 gallon tank filtered air heater. temperature is set at 89-90. im feeding them live black worms. no gravel no sand bare tank.

i had 22 now i only have 15. i am slowly losing them and i dont want to lose them. any ideas on how or what is causing this problem and the solution. it doesnt show any signs of heavy breathing or anything, no battle scars. just like a SDS (sudden death syndrome).

i heard use vinegar and some vitamins for the fish. any other solution.

Bro, I had the same problem and lost 12 dats to date. People were telling me I was a newbie and lecturing me with blah blah blah. The truth of the matter is that these baby indos are not that easy to raise and don't let them tell you how easy it is. Dats at this size are as sensitive as altum angels. Try this and see if this works for you.

lower your temp to 86-87. I think 89 is a bit too high unless you have a lot of bubbles for aeration. Does your tank have a lot of hiding places? Add a anubias barteri live plant. I have had a lot of success with this. See picture of my setup in the datnoid media section.

Check your water pH, if it's too high then soften it with a water pillow made by API.

what size tank and how much vinegar did you use? I use the distilled vinegar and have had good result.

Here are your options to treating ich.

1/2 dose or less of the instructions provided by coppersafe

or

3 tsp of vinegar for 10g of water

AVOID RID ICH!!!!! I was doing a search and people were complaining this this stuff kill more fish than save.

These are not expert advice but based on my experience with baby dats and advice from friends that have dats.

89-90 might be your problem kinda hot dont you think. maybe not getting enough oxygen in your water.

also i will buy some anubias today.

any special instructions into cleaning them and caring for them?
Get anubias barteri. There is no special instructions since they're the easier plant to keep alive. Just give a quick dip into salt water to kill off snails. Then rinse the plant and tie it to a piece of driftwood.

Here is a site for price and picture reference.

12 gallon tank. There's your problem.

Bigger tank and better filtration is required.

Might be just a bad batch, wild caught.
