help - indo dats keeping dying off one by one

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any little thing that goes wrong with water quality is multiplied the smaller the tank. There simply isnt any buffer with a 12 gallon tank. That many fish plus feeding live foods? How big of a filter can you run on a 12 gallon tank anyway without causing tsunami conditions? Which I'm sure would also add stress.

I to will forget I even read u kept 26 dats and 11 loaches in a 12 g for 2 weeks.

you should get a bigger tank^ like said. but also do more water changes.

you don't have a picture of your tank btw?

i think you should test your water for ammonia, nitrates, ph and then go from there. plenty of decent testers out there that wont put a hole in your wallet. good luck and hope the rest of them pull through.

Stan, kolossus; good detail provided.

Just spend that little extra £/$ , not much .... And your baby tigers will go a long way :D

Why is everyone keeping their dats in such small tanks? If you're going to purchase that many please be reasonable and select a proper size tank...not to mention what you'll need in the future to properly house these fish. It's kind of stupid if you ask me.

okay heres the thing. i got bigger tanks i got water tester i got everything needed.

First i notice the fish was dying. i lost one in the beginning and i didnt think anything of it cause its fresh off the bag. so 2 weeks pass 3 died, then i got mad and said **** this and moved them into the 45 gallon i had cycle for about 2 weeks. i used old water from my 160 to fill it up, let it run did a water changed, and tested the water. everything was on key. so i moved them in there since my original plan was to move them in there. then when i fed them in the morning got home from going out. i noticed 2 more died. then i was like wtf is going on, so i decide since my 12 gallon had gravel, i thought the gravel was dirty so i cleared it all out and moved them back into the 12 with the same procedure, cup of water every 5-10 mins they were in a 5 gallon so when it filled half way i slowly net them and put them back in. they were fine until today i saw another one die and i was like what is going on. water in that tank been fine i didnt do a major water change until today which was a 40-50% water change with prime. i always do 20-30% on all my tanks

note - i did not use any vinegar or any additives beside prime. i heard a suggestion of vinegar but didnt try it.

so far they are doing good with fishncash idea, but i didnt put any coppersafe since they are not safe with plants in there. i got a big driftwood with little holes for their hide out, bout 4 anubias 1 amazon swords 3 pvc piping cut to about 3 - 5 inches.

water test on it was fine, all i wonder is since a 12 gallon is so small is it possible for it to go in a mini cycle when doing water change, if so should i have little bags of ceramic rings in the tank just to keep bacteria efficient enough for the tank not to go into a mini cycle. i housed many fish in the 12 gallon and didnt lose a fish until these indo's came. i had 10 pbass in the same tank before. then i had 4 ntts with 11 loaches before.
