iowa
where this monster largemouth bass is in a farmpond north of council bluffs, iowa. ive seen it 2 times, the first time i was reeling a small little 4" lmb across the top of the water and then it exploded out of the water and grabbed the bass and took off and snapped the line. the second time i was reeling in a bluegill about 3" long and when i pulled it out of the water the lmb jumped out after it but missed. what i would like to know is that what would be best to used. like should i use live bait such as minnows or worms or should i use artificial lures. this fish lookes to be 15 pounds+ no lie this thing has a mouth the size of the lid of a 5 gallon bucket its a monster. just need to know what i should use to catch it. and if/when i catch it ill post pics of it on here but the state record here is only 10 pounds and this bass looks bigger then that. and advice would help cuz i usually just go fishing there for the crappie (they're 18" crappie!!!) and never went fishing strictly for bass. we have to fish from shore since the land owner doesnt want any boats in the water. please help me catch it and ill credit u mabye haha :)

Well you answered your own question. It seems as you should catch a small fish from that pond and live line it with a bobber and just wait to see if it will come eat it. Mean while with another pole try a very slow presentaion either with a 10" u-tail worm or with a rattling jig with a traillor attached to it. The bass in question seems to very active at times so I would also try a spinner bait or some type of hard bait such as crank baits and jerk baits, and big swim baits.
The live lining of a small bluegill sounds like your best bet, good luck!!!

You boy, cichlid fiends

dude throw a castaic bluegill swim bait. when it gets hot throw a baby bass colored super spook. one thing you have to remember when fishing small bodies of water that hold large bass, they eat the smaller bass and large bluegill. thats why you had the situations take place. you can get both of those baits from bass pro shops, mail order. good luck bro

do ya think a baitcaster with 45 pound spider wire and a 3-6" bluegill would work? and what would be better to fish top or bottom? tyvm :)
