but wont the bluegill on the bobber keep pulling the bobber under the water? or should i jsut use a 2" bobber? (i have one of those haha :) )

I would use a large round bobber the clip on kind. for a hook I would use at least a 5/0 hook. For bait I would go with somthing easyer to swallow then your average bluegill creek chubs make the best bait but large shinners can work as well. If avalible get about a 5-6 inch green sunfish they make good bait as well as there more slender then a bluegill. Hook the bait in the soft dorsal. Best of luck

Whats good my friend. Did you ever hear of shinners. The bass seem to love them.Im not excactlly sure what they are.I think manhadden,i could be wrong about that. But,it is live bait.Use a slow retrieve since you know the bass are lazy.Try to get it buy some weeds since you also know that bass are ambushers. If you didnt know, well know you know.:naughty:Best to make sure your line is fresh since you said that the one snapped your line.Probablly 20lbs test braided is good. Some people dont like the braided for live lining. When he snaches on to you hook hold on have fun dont horse em.Oh yeah sometimes a small offering is better.:headbang2

how big should the shiners be? i usually catch my net about 2" long

If you want to fish for sport use lures. But if you just want to catch this bass and dont care how i have three suggestions.

1. Live crawfish. use a #6 hook(i know its tiny) through the tail of the crawfish then put a small weight about a foot above the hook and cast out and slowly reel it in. 4 out of the 5 biggest bass ever caught were caught this way.

2. The biggest night crawler you can get texas rig it like you would a senko. DO NOT MAKE A WORM BALL! hook in on a bobber and then SLOWLY reel it in to give it a little extra action

3. Find out what the local baitfish is in your lake (Shiners, shad, chub, ect.) then buy big ones from your bait shop and hook through the lower jaw and up through the top of the head between the eyes. either fish them on a bobber or cast them out and reel them in.

DO NOT USE BLUEGILL IT IS ILLEGAL AND IF IT IS A STATE RECORD IT WILL NOT COUNT AND YOU WILL BE FINED!

Trust me on this, i have been fishing my whole life since i was about 2 years old.

There is a technique you should look up. In Florida when fishing for trophy size largemouth, they use a large golden shiner with a large balloon for a float. The shiner can't sink the balloon. There may be a particular hook setting technique as well, where you have to watch the balloon movement for the proper run with the bait.

I'm sure you can find some information. I saw Roland Martin use this on TV years ago.

the laws are different state to state. Panfish are legal to use as bait here, as long as they are caught legally.

I know from my past experience LMB love crappie. Catch a smaller crappie and put it out on a bobber. I would also say in my experience the bigger the bait = the bigger the fish. I would use like the largest bluegill you can catch or like an 8inch crappie. I have caught a 6lb bass on a like 8inch bluegill.

Good Luck Fishing

shinners would be my last bait choice but about a 5-7 inch one. Shinners are a pain to keep a live and they dont last long when hooked. like I said use creek chubs or green sunfish. Greens are the best all around bait as they stay a live for a lot longer and move and struggle alot more drawing fish to them. I've used green and bluegills for catfish and bass, the greens catch way more fish.
