Hey man, don't use 45 lb test if you are chasing a record. I believe the highest #test that is IGFA legal for Bass is 20lb test, but you can use a leader of up to, I think 8 feet, of any test you want.

My suggestion of what outfit to use:
7 ft fast action rod (a good stiff rod is best, because with lighter line the rod itself needs to take some strain when stopping long runs) 20lb braided line, 8ft 45lb braid leader, and then a Senko or Gulp Alive worm.

Well, Bass have a lateral line so a grenade would work

If you want the record you gotta be a member at IGFA, buy a scale, and have it certified. The whole thing ain't cheap, especially if your scale is NOT deemed accurate. Might just be worth a few photos and a release
