Certainly you have a picture of this fish you caught, let's see it. Also you must be the record holder in your state for that fish, what state did you catch it in?

I know I didn't believe it at first either just looked it up Massachusetts state record is 15lb 8oz

Since it is a farm pond and the fish can't run to far, make the record look good and use 2lb test.

2-6lb test and a large sun fish with clipped fins on a large hook ad dead line it. just let the bait fish swim freely. the bleeding fins will be irresistable to a xtra large LMB.

LMB don't run far anyway-lazy fighters.

In most places you cant use those three other baits.

Some state laws make exceptions for private bodies of water-such as farm ponds. Usually the laws are to prevent the spread of exotics. Not usually a concern in a farmpond.

I say wait until next years prespawn and cast large spinnerbaits and cranks every day around the spawning areas. Float large live baits in the area too. Best time would be in low light on warmer weeks. You probably will have to fish quite a bit to even have a hope of catching this fish.GL

My experience with catching lgb is using minnows off the hook. I use a bopper depending on the depth it works most of the time however its a pond, probably would work in that condition. Also If you have seen it twice you might have a good idea where it lurks so its gonna be better for you. Worms also work too but I do have a better success with minnows vs worms when it comes to largemouths.

P.S. if youre not squeamish, go ahead and try to hand net in some smaller fish from that pond such as baby blue gills, my biggest fish from bass to catfish have been from that same location that I have fished in. 3-4 inches at the most. (used buffalo, drums, white bass, red sunfish, bluegills, crappies, local minnows and so on) then use em as bait. Thats where I catch the huge fish- from channel catfish to blue catfish using that method- however I do not fish for largemouths as I used to.
