help me pick out a shark..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haha funny story....

Kid at LFS is talking about how bad a his nurse shark is and how it would tear everything apart. He wants another pedator with it and inisits on a trigger. He was told it has the possibility of killing his nurse. He laughed and shrugged. It was a 4-5inch decent sized undulated trigger. Well long story short he came in the next day with his 14inch nurse shark missing two eyes and half its fins..... people really need to do some research before persisting on what they are doing, but i get a really good kick out of it :D

"people need to do research on what they are doing"

This wasn't directed towards you OP, but the trigger thing was funny. The size requirements are way off everywhere. These sites that say sharks can live in a 180 is rediculous. This really sucks for people who dont have access to MFK and learn what it really takes to keep these animals in healthy homes. Has anyone called live aquaria and talked to them about the shark housing size? I think this would be something worth doing....

a grouper in a 180???

Titan, Queen, Blueline, Undulated trigger, shark has no chance. The ocean may be different, but in an aquarium the trigger would win, with almost no matter the size difference. Most people say triggers are not that mean and blah blah blah, yea go on with your bad niger trigger and picasso.... lmao. Nurse shark with a REAL trigger, no chance. In the end its just an overall bad idea, i just hate these people who say i have had triggers and they are not that aggressive. " My niger trigger wasn't mean at all! Triggers are not as mean as everyone thinks". LoL its purple for god sakes what do you expect!?

Well I'll sum everything up for all of us lol.

Liveaquaria (Really enjoy thier site! Lol) do sell awesome fish and give good info on them except thier sources of tank sizes are off.

I say liveaquaria because I believe lot's of mfk members been to thier site lol. In my opinion a suitable tank for the following sharks are:

Common Sharks In Trade Common Adult Size

Nurse Shark Up to 120 Inches
Black Banded Bamboo Cat Shark Up to 42 Inches
White Banded Bamboo Cat Shark Up to 38 Inches
Marbled Cat Shark (True) Up to 24 Inches
Cali Horn Shark Up to 47 Inches
Leopard Shark Up to 50 Inches
Black Tip Shark Up to 80 Inches
Epaulette Shark Up to 42 Inches

Shark Tank Dementions (L x W x H) Gallonage

Nurse Shark 30ft x 20ft x 4ft 17,978
Black Banded Bamboo 10.5ft x 7ft x 2ft 1,101
White Banded Bamboo 9.5ft x 6.3ft x 2ft 863
Marbled Cat Shark True 6ft x 4ft x 2ft 359
Cali Horn Shark 11.5ft x 8ft x 2ft 1,379
Leopard Shark 12.5ft x 8ft x 4ft 2,996
Black Tip 20ft x 13ft x 4ft 7,790
Epaulette Shark 10.5 x 7ft x 2ft 1,101

Marbled Cat Sharks look somewhat similar to White Banded Bamboo sharks according to liveaquaria.

The Length and Width of the tank are based on 3x total common lenths of sharks and 2x coomon length of shark for Width. The height I personally based it on activity levels of fish. Also I believe the sizes of these sharks are accurate feel free to edit it.

Hope I Helped
