I find this odd with people... . Why use polishing pads when you know that's the issue? I have another idea, replace the coarse sponges with 20/30 ppi sponges... there is your fine filtration needs.That its true that probably more people like the filter; then those who doesn't, but if I'm going to buy something that its known for some issues, i will probably stay away from that purchase. After owning fx5 for six months, my thoughts are not to impress, 6 liters of media on the baskets, constant cleaning, can't use polishing pads, micro baubles, ugly intake looks like a big computer mouse, so you end up with a bucket full of sponges that pushes 900gph, sorry not put your filter down but i have eheims running for 20 years no problems, its true eheim cost a little more in the beginning, but cheaper on the long run; not to mention no hassle with them, i own 10 and not one has had issues.
