Is the flow from the powerhead strong?He could be struggling to swim against the current.

It’s possible that this is just your camera, but the tank looks cloudy. Did you cycle - do you know what the Nitrogen cycle is - your tank?

Edit: Filter orientation won’t matter much unless it’s a super strong flow.

You could try using vinyl tubing or even garden hose to divert the output of the powerhead,the little guys get blown around the tank when strong powerheads are used.

Ok, it might be a little heavy on the flow then. But can you answer these questions because there might be another issue here.

1. Do you know what the nitrogen cycle is
2. If yes, did you cycle your tank
3. How big is the tank
