see that is what my black arows fins look like but i wish his body would darken up like yours

So I'm used to tanning my Silver, It seems that blacks are more like mushrooms, keep them in the dark and feed them a bunch of $$^&$%*.
No actually, a very realy question, do those of you with blacks run 8 hrs of full lighting or keep it dimmer? So if that controls their coloring, will the lack of light harm them healthwise in the long run?

My silver liked the amverr, dimmer lights much better, I don't imagine the Amazon is very well lit under water.

actually I think the reason my black is so dark is due to his surroundings. When I got him the LFS had him in a light colored setup and he was almost white.. My tank is black on black and I am running 320 watts of lighting 10 hrs a day so lighting has little to do with the darkness.

and this is an older pic he's about 14" long now and his fins are in better condition.. his top fin was shredded in this pic.
also I feel that most fish have better coloring in black setups because it doesn't wash them out when they try to blend in with their surroundings.

here ya go DeL he's getting closer to your standards:D around 14" so he's getting monster

?Hey, don't let them tel you lies. They picked on my aro at 19" he still couldn't join the Monster club until he hit 24"!

I have black/blue back but white sand cause black is crushed onyx and I was afraid he'd:screwy: cut himself screwing around rubbing his belly or doing a faceplant. :grinno:
