1. How often do you do water changes?

2. What percentage do you change?

3. What size is your tank?

4. What is your stock?

5. What is your filtration?

6. What do you feed your rays?

7. How often do you feed your rays?

8. How long have you maintained this schedule?

9. Barebottom or Sand?

10. Eating?

11. Did you add salt for treatment?

12. What other meds did you use?

13. Did you transfer the sick ray?

14. What other info do you think might be helpful?

15. Where was your ray from? Vendor? CB? Wild Caught?

Are you talking about the actual gill (the slits on the underside) or are you referring to the spiracle (the opening behind the eye)?

If the actual gills are not showing respiratory actions, I don't know...could be an injury, I'd say this would be a serious issue. If it's the spiracle there could be some kind of obstruction or injury but I don't think it would be as serious as the other situation.

Hopefully, this is just a temporary situation and the ray will begin acting normal again. Keep a close eye on him and if it hasn't resolved in a few days or if the ray seems to be going down hill, you may want to do a close inspection by putting the ray into a tray of tank water and looking to see if you can determine what's going on.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe someone else will come along and know exactly what's happening with your flower.

it's the spiracle, not the gill underside.

how long has it been doing it for? it may be just lazy and because its not moving around much it only needs to use one.

if its been there doing it for a good while then it may be time to worrie.

just saw its a new addition. it will still be settling in im sure. especially with it being a flower. there only hardy once they have settled into a new tank.

Is it newly wildcaught? Because it sounds like it could be gill worms, can be treated with prazicantel.

My friend bought it from this person who had it for a while.
