why is there ammonia? is your tank cycled yet?
how fast did you switch them to full marine?

those are important questions

however.. theres a 99.999% chance that the healthy gsp is killing the other one.. they are a fish that NEEDS their space..

•yes its cycled
•no there is no other GSP its a black saddled toby with a suttle(spelling?) temperment
ive been switching the GSP to full marine for over a year and hes been living in salt for like 6 months with no problems

There is something seriously wrong with the tank. What are the rest of the parameters? Either you tank is going through a cycle, or there is a lack of bio filtration on this tank.

read the other thread... they havent changed. but ill do another test and post the results soon. im pretty sure theres plenty of filtration cuz ive never had a problem before and this tank has been stocked for months.

ok that being said... why is there ammonia in your tank.. is there a chunk of rotting food somewhere?

also gsp should not be full marine till they are adults (somewhere around the 2"+ range).. if yours is 1.5" and hes over a year old... something is wrong..

you can pretty much ignore all of above and just read the below:

im going to bring up the NEED for space thing... both of the puffers you mentioned NEED atleast 30gallons each... so thats 60gallons.... you have them together in a 20 gallon with a whisper 20..... the tank is undersized and underfiltered...

and before you say again that they have been fine till now... ill just tell you that you have been missing small signs of trouble till now... do a lil research on your fish and what it takes to keep them happy...

new arrival!!!! i called my dad and told him about how sick my puffer was and how badly he needed a new tank and he sense the distress in my voice and came home with a 55g!! ill set it up this weekend and have it cycling by then.

o sorry thats an old measurement ive been going on for a while and i just measured him again and he is indeed at least 2.0 inches as far as i can measure a fish under a cave. hes like 2.1 maybe. hes been growing up till now because ive been feeding him extra so hell need to be moved faster so i can get a bigger tank faster and it worked :) but now hes really sick because of it :irked:

They might have 'also' been fine, because they where smaller and less of a bio load. A huge is that the puffer's teeth is growing out. It's simply tells us that you haven't been feeding it shelled food. are you feeding it feeders? if you do a google on 'puffer teeth trim' there is a youtube video out there.

your puffer will do best be having cockcles, clams, mussels, and snails etc. P.s. 'toby' saddel'? is that some sort of fugu puffer? if so, thatsw probably your problem. any sort of takifugu puffers are extremely aggressive and not very tolerant of other species, especially puffers.

black saddled toby is not a fugu puffer... hes actually very peaceful... look it up on google images and ull see... they also only grow to 4 inches and is smaller than my sick GSP now. yes i always feed my puffers shelled food but since my puffer has been sick for about one and a half weeks he hasnt eaten much and thats given his teeth the chance to grow. although he did eat some shelled shrimp tonight and tried to eat a small snail which gave him some strength back to hopefully try to eat more snails tomorrow to grind his teeth down. and hes too fast to catch to grind his teeth even through hes sick.

good... dont forget you need another third tank for the other puffer.. neither of them will be happy in the 20gallon.. for a while they MIGHT be ok together in the 55.. it would not hurt to put a tank divider in the middle to keep them apart..
also dont forget to step up the filtration.. theres nothing wrong with a LOT of filtration..
for example on my 30 gallon gsp tank there are 2 whisper 30s (according to the box they are good for up to 30 gallons... so based on the box i have 60 gallons worth of filtration on a 30 gallon tank.. as he grows his filtration will grow.. hes got a 60gallon tank waiting for him.. but hes not big enough to justify getting rid of the couch yet... i need a bigger house... ok back on topic..)

the 20 gallon would be a great place to breed shrimp and snails to use as food for the puffers..
as for his teeth growing that much in a week... i dont think thats possiable.. their teeth grow fast but i dont think they grow that fast...

there was something else but i just noticed the time i need to go to work in the morning... hope everything turns out ok..
