HELP SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY FLOWERHORN

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
carbon is not needed for the tank so once removed do not replace, put more media in its place, most places carry kanaplex . metroplex and polyguard. I would go with the polyguard if they have it.
Okay thanks doesn't carbon just make water clearer?

I just got home and this is how it looks
I'm gonna go get poly guard and treat the whole tank and I'm gonna do a water change and remove the carbon

Carbon is used to pull toxins and heavy mettle's from the water. unless your tap water has heavy mettle,s in it or toxins the carbon packs that came with the filter are not needed. if you are worried about clarity adding a sponge or floss in its place will help with that.

So I just did eyes change and took out my carbon
Tommorow I'll go buy poly guard and treat the whole tank with that with 3 day water changes and then I'll update also is it fine that the parrot is in there the treatment will get rid of anything if it has any sickness too?

It kind of depends on your strain of infection as to whether polyguard will eliminate it from the system. It's good that you removed the carbon as it will remove some of the active ingredients in polyguard. However, I have used polyguard off and on for over a year to try to get rid of columnaris/duck lips. The fish usually get better but if they get too stressed then the infection seems to come back. I'm treating with kanamycin now and if that doesn't do the trick then I am going to move onto some aquaculture-grade stuff or start the tank from scratch and treat every fish in the 125 community in hospital tanks.

Let's hope the poly guard works and it not RIP. My FH has never gotten sick before so it was surprising but I'm assuming it's cause it kept digging around in the gravel and must have opened a pocket of god knows what bacteria that I missed during my gravel siphons every week. My only quarantine tub is currently being used for a parrot with HITH which I hope the polyguard will fix cause I've come to realize that melafix is horrible and isn't even meant for healing stuff like that I need more intense Meds. I hope the FH doesn't have duck lips it's lips don't look that's swollen yet so hopefully this works
Thanks I'll update in 3 days or so

I suggested polyguard as its broader than kanaplex or metroplex. Tho truth be told most meds to treat bacterial are a shot in the dark. Those that are not, Such as MB, or MG wipe out the bio filter and best used as a bath, or in hospital tank rather than in the tank itself.

Aight then I'll try to find polyguard in the two stores

API E.M. Erythromycin is going to hard on your bio filter, I think I would go for API® T.C. Tetracycline first.

if you can not find polyguard.
