Man he's stunning J jaws7777 !

I've been following your het and pearsei thread for a while. Wish I had room for something like a pearsei or bocourti in this tank but the 18 inches is limiting. I found your thread when I was researching the largest cichlid I could fit in a 125 that wouldn't be a complete terror. I didn't really find an answer anywhere but I've been stuck on hets ever since.

Isn't that the truth. I was interested in a syns first but i got concerned about their size and aggression which led me to your thread. I tried to use your pearsei to convince the wife we needed something deeper than 18 inches. But she was steadfast.

Its ok you chose some pretty cool fish i think your gonna be happy and wise decision taking the time to research the fish. I think i could have gotten another year with him being in the 18 inch wide 150 but even now he started looking cramped.

When are you setting up the new tank ?

That's a good question.

I'm about to set up in the next couple weeks a 40b st up for a pair of sajicas once a pair of my juvies grows out enough to pair up. After that I'll start looking for one. Any 6 foot by 18 inch tank will do but my wife is picky when it comes to stands...so as soon as i find one we both like that's when... That could be a few weeks to months.

Though I've got a fish store that says they can get hets. They are supposed to send me pics when they come in. I'll start a thread to get you guys opinions when i get the pics.

Lmaoooo this sounds exactly like me when i 1st got back into the hobby. Our dimensions were 7x18 as well and the stand was a big issue for her. I think the one she picked was just as much as the tank.

One suggestion though. I absolutely hate my 150. Could you push for a 180 ? Same length but the 2ft width would be great in the long run

Unfortunately not. The tank will be going in a smallish room and my wife is adamant that it doesn't stick out any more than the75 does

Yup same story as me smh why do they have soo much power lol.....i would still try... bribe her out right bribe her... get her something that you normally wouldnt in exchange for her giving you the green light on the 180.

I hate my 150....id even trade it in for a 125 if someone local was willing to do it. I know they extra 25 gal will help (a little) but the height is annoying when trying to get in there for maintenance and for the most part all of the fish are bottom half dwellers.
