The USA GOV allows for established facilities such as zoos, universities or people who are licensed breeders to obtain these. They just have to go through a lot of paper work and ultimately show that they are breeding the fish and nothing else. What we need are some hardcore MFKers(ahahah) with the right means to do so. If anyone at all has some sort of connection then it's time to call on it. Perhaps get something at a college going, get some Zoo to breed some of these or finding reputable breeders. If the breeders refuse because of monetary reasons then perhaps we can all chip in and donate to these. I don't know if any of what I just said will work, but I'm willing to back up any idea out there that's better.
depend on what reasons to import Asian aro. USFWS said that Asian aro can only import for science researches or something else but not for public aquarium and pet !rain21;4666226; said:there are lot of place in Indonesia where they send Aros to USA

He is literally the man when it come to native fish species here in California and he with the weight he pulls can finish jobs on the political end that us hobbyist have now way completing. Anyways its good news.
I have been attempting to recruit him to MFK.
nice work!Arowana1;4797061; said:Well I approached my professor about the possibility of participating in a program to legalize Asian Arowanas here in the USA. He was a little leery and said no although this is an interesting subject to him. We mentioned before the privilege of importing these fish into the USA that probably each kind of Asian Arowana should have part of part there range protected by some kind of aquatic preserve to conserve these spectacular fish. Once that is done then attempting legalization makes sense.
On a second note I'm still recruiting him to MFK forums as he is a huge fish fan. Possibly after being apart of MFK and had some experience with some hobby tanks I may give it another go to attempt to legalized Asian Arowanas through my fisheries professor.![]()
