very true...people do cram in 5-7 asians in one tank...just to have a show tank...which in the end the aros suffer from lack of space and eventually die.
I hope I am not considered as one of those people.

I cant help but notice some pessimism.
Most asian aros now are bred in captivity and not wild caught ones. Bred species have better varieties, body posture and even coloration (e.g Violet Fusion, Crossback, etc)

US is merely trying to protect exploitation from ppl selling wild caught aros hence reducing natural population. But that not quite possible here as its heavily controlled such that every fish is tagged similar to a dog getting an electronic chip and certified.

Aros receiving ill treament is far from the facts, each aro is sold up to thousands of dollars a piece (some up to tens of thousand). Which keeper would want to abuse their prized fish having paid thousands of dollars for it? Those that abuse are probably the bad sheeps around and trust me, it's not worth burning the entire forest just to kill a few bad trees. Anyway, which industry doesnt have it's own bad apples?
