help! water gone mega cloudy (with video)!!!

I think if you have another tank running you should squeeze out some sponges/media from that tanks filters into your fx5 and fx6 media. This will seed them and help the cycle speed up.

You asked about purigen, I love it. I'll never run another tank without it. Replace all of your carbon with purigen. I use 10x the recommended amount. I also use pothos and two 3.5ft denitrate tubes DIY with seachem denitrate media. They are powered by 35gph mini pumps and lay on the bottom of the sump. My main tank has a massive bioload, this combination keeps nitrates below 20 even without a WC for 2 weeks.


A DIY k1 reactor 2 or 3 liter bottle would help too. Simple and cheap and very effective. You can see instructions on denitrate tubes and k1 reactors on YouTube.

Justarn: your problem has nothing to do with filters or media or water changes or a "new" drip system and EVERYthing to do with putting the water from that tub of disgusting sludge into your tank. who knows what-all it is, bacteria, toxic build-up, metals, & live or dead organisms? it polluted your tank.
you can google forever & will not ID what specifically is in that water. and aquarium sites won't address the issue. it wouldn't matter HOW cycled your filter was. I'm surprised any fish are alive.
Did you even test the tub crap water itself? of course our API tests only cover about 4 things anyway. NOT enough!
Since that crap has been in your home water: YUCK, I would call the water health department and make them test it thoroughly and get the results.
WTH are you thinking- jacking around with this issue on a fish forum, now that you have seen that???

edit, PS: and I hate to say it, but the filth that was going in your tank does create the need for Lg amount of high quality carbon to be put in canister to absorb toxins.
This is not a normal aquarium issue. If I was you, I'd make a new thread based on that tub..pm Duanes and have him look at that tub water pic. he used to work at water treatment facilities.
 
Also, I'd add safe or prime every other day. It won't remove the ammonia and nitrite, but will detoxify it for the fish until the tank finishes cycling again. The bb can use it up just fine in this state

Alright bud, it looks pretty much the same this morning as it did last night so at least it never got any worse... im at work now so updates from the missus while im out lol... the fish were all breathing anyways!-) really expected it to be like milk again.
 
You can google what that is in my water tank, its very common ive read lots about it in the last few days fella, it was outlined in the quote earlier in the thread what it is...
 
Glad its got no worse man , similar thing happened to one of our tanks few years back with my missis fish in it water crashed and went murkey her fh survived because it was big everything else she lost :(

My tank seems OK now ish still high nitrates and bloom of those white worms from over feeding even though I haven't :mad: I'll just do a small WC every night , I'm sure this tanks jinxed since ive set it up I've lost my six year old jardini , giraffe cat , irwini cat and now my ray , bring back the old tank I say hahaha had well more luck with that one , its full of Malawi's ATM
