Help! What the heck is goin on!!!???

Most well water contains bacteria and parasites. May not affect fish. But it's collected runoff that has contaminants

MOST well water should not contain bacteria and parasites. This is one comment that I may have over interpreted, but is egregiously incorrect. If a well is properly installed, there should only be clean groundwater entering the well after untold time and distance of filtration through the earth.

I'm a little confused too but to back up my statements, I have heard rarely of crypto infections passing thru well systems, all else would only pertain to mammals. Luckily fish can't contract giardia....

This second statement in response to my comments does not back up the previous statement, but it is much more accurate. RARELY these pathogens are present in well water, and they can be a serious risk to human health. Typically, unless there is a specific cause for concern, a well can be tested for total coliform bacteria, and assuming that result is negative, the worry over crypto/giardia isn't much worth your time spent worrying. On the other hand, coliform is easily introduced to water supplies from serious issues like surface water infiltration, or simple contamination due to improper sample handling. We live with coliform bacteria everyday, and it's very prevalence in the terrestrial environment is ubiquitous that it can be used as an indicator of other more serious issues.

I said I wasn't going to get involved, but here I am. Up to this point, I hope that I have not been offensive to anyone.

Some where in this thread op stated that the owmer did something with the water or well. Maybe it isnt properly sealed ?

I'll say this. If this thread helps the OP to discover he has a contaminated well then it did it's job and then some. It started with testing tank water some head scratching plenty of input and questions being raised from members and then possibily finding the root cause. This is exactly why MFK is here. It took some twists and turns but it worked.

I'm lost on this thread now. If you have some information that could help the OP why not share it? I'm sure you can do it in a way that wouldn't be insulting to anyone. We are all here to learn and what one member doesn't know another member can pick up and help out with. I would be interested in hearing what you have to say on the subject. I know next to nothing about well water snd wells so I think it would be interesting.

Sorry, my logic on this is that the correct recommendation has already been recommended and refused. The OP needs to have the well water tested, but does not feel that testing and potential solution is within their price range. Without more specific information than...

...the guy that owns the property just informed me after I said my fish r dien that he has not done anything he was supposed to be doing to the well water here in over 3 years he said its prob filled with parasites metals and unwanted minerals...

...in order to continue providing any meaningful advice. Therefore, the only assistance that I can provide in confidence is that if you think there is a problem with the well, you should have the water tested by a legitimate laboratory. Then this conversation can take a meaningful form, but instead others have made unfounded claims and recommendations about possible treatment options.

It is possible that a reverse osmosis system or even a simply carbon filter could be a solution. I use an RO system for all of my tank water, and it is a PITA due to low (75 gpd) production. I am also on city water, have a carbon filter, and a water softener in the treatment train before the RO. An RO takes good water and makes it JUST water. It will only make good water out of crappy water for a short amount of time, then it will stop working. You would want to know more about the water you are treating before spending any money, which is again why testing is the next logical step.

Wailua Boy Wailua Boy I see now that I merged you and in_the_seance in_the_seance 's comments as if they were from the same source. Sorry for the confusion, but I did think that those two comments were made by the same member. My apologies.
