Unlikely your well water has parasites as there are no hosts..... If your water supply is contaminated wouldn't all fish be affected?
From what I'm seein all my fish r bein affected one by one ... Dr b I'm not doin all that that's to way much work .... I don't drink the water here I always thought it tasted funny since I moved here 3 years ago.... And the guy that owns the place is my girls grandpa..... Can't exactly turn him in ..... Buying water is way to much money as much wc I have to do and .... And I researched online the only kind of filter that will take out the biological and chemical stuff in water is very very expensive I'm not payin that much when I'm movin from here in less than a year .... The way I see it my only options r quit the hobby sell the fish until I move and get my money back up ... By a bunch or chemicals for aquariums and pray they work..... Or by a super expensive filter
Most meds actually aren't that expensive(unless you get into antibiotics). I don't think filtration is your problem either, so don't worry about that. Run the treatment
Could get a ro system. You shouldn't need a super expensive filter just a carbon filter and some additive like water softener. I have insanely hard water and like 8.2 ph.
Most well water contains bacteria and parasites. May not affect fish. But it's collected runoff that has contaminants
Right, I just meant parasites that affect fish. Just because of time spent in well, I think would rule out parasites in the water supply.
I am not going to get into this conversation beyond this one comment, but here it is...
A lot of the comments that have been made in this thread regarding well water quality and treatment options are at least partially incorrect if not egregiously so. I am not doubting anyones fish care experience or abilities, and I actually would like to give a +1 to the old water heater comment made earlier, most people don't think about that and it can certainly be a source of significant contamination. Beyond that and the comments suggesting that the well water be tested, most of the well water related information shared should be disregarded.
I worked for a plumbing systems and water treatment wholesaler for over seven years between my BS and MS studies, dealt with residential, commercial, agricultural systems, and tested water for municipal distributors. I don't wish to pick on any individual comment made, but I had several vocal outbursts while reading the last quarter of this thread... READER BEWARE! Why make a blanket statememt then not elaborate? Anything you could add may benefit anyone following the thread.
I know where i may move was said to somtimes contain nitrates and heavy metal in some of the wells...i for 1 would appreciate a ything you could add
