Help with 75 gallon stocking.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know this is out of nowhere, but can I house a King Kong parrot in my tank. And, no, I am not trying to start a controversy about hybrids.

Definitely a small one. I would say it would be fine, but it would certainly appreciate a bigger tank (125) when large.
Rose queen is similar as a parrot morph but stays 8-10 inch range I think.

Blood parrot may be dirty hybrids, but they are fun dirty hybrids. Mine is my favorite cichlid because of how much personality he has.

Best wet pets for your water parameters are a group of Amazon puffers, blood parrot, carpintis, amphilophus lyonsi, and red wolf (more of a lurker but great personality).
Convicts also make very nice wet pets.

I completely forgot about convicts- they are amazing fish! I would get them but I don't want to deal with fry and one convict in a 75 would look a bit empty IMO.

red wolfs, pearlscale cichlids(carpintis), and amphilophus lyonsi seem to like softer water so my options are amazon puffers(haven't researched yet) and blood parrots.

Carpintis and amphs come from Central American water where parameters are closer to rift lakes than to the amazon.
Wolves do prefer soft, acidic but are quite adaptable, as are amazon puffers.
Nice thing about a con is that it could be kept with others in that size tank.

Maybe a convict, firemouth, and a rainbow cichlid plus swordtails?
They do breed like rabbits though. My female paired with my parrot, I’m lucky the parrot is infertile because I would have millions right now lol.
