I would still add some salt, we had one jump out of the tank once and same exact thing happened to the skin. I hate to say that one did not make it, Is it still eating?

Ouch. Was the damage worse then this guy?

Great. But, yes this Armatus is still eating shrimp. Like I also said, I did throw one of those vitamin pyramids in as well to give some supplementary nutrition to the fish.

I hope all the Armatus owners out there are taking note of this. It certainly doesn't seem like an isolated incident. I have never seen a fish or other animal for that matter with such sensitive skin.

I'll update the thread today with more pictures and some commentary after I get home. Before I left I did throw in 3 more tablespoons of salt after a ~20% water change. Almost all the dead (white) skin has come off, and I can see some skin starting to reappear along the very top and middle of his back in the injured area. I hope this is good news.

Sounds good man. Im happy for you. Not out of the woods yet but you should be able to see the clearing!

How many shrimp is he eating a day? I feed 3-4 about 5x a week for reference.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have just been so busy with school and work and keeping this guy healthy that the last thing I had time for was taking pictures and perusing the internet.

He is getting MUCH better. I have been doing daily 20-25% water changes, and adding 5 tablespoons of salt each new change. I think this was helping him. He has continued eating, and the skin s growing back extremely fast at this point. Each day there is considerable growth in the skin coverage department.

Also, his tail was a bit nipped on when I brought him home (He was in a fairly badass tank with), and the tail is almost completely back to normal and there is substantial white growth on the end of the fins.

The pictures from this morning (Day 8 by my count):

No, the fish doesn't have ick. He is doing MUCH better now. I think he'll make a perfect recovery.

Besides his back area, this fish is back to 100%. He just skewered some shrimp, so I got a picture of his bulging stomach and healing back.

I will leave him in this tank until he is 100% healed, obviously I'm doing something right with this tank, and at the rate I'm cleaning the water and adding salt I don't want to stop this procedure.

JD, I have just been feeding him one shrimp at a time and letting the bulging stomach subside before I feed him again...how many shrimp did you give him in one sitting? The photo shoes him with only one full raw shrimp in there. It's just crazy how much he craves shrimp now that he must know the smell.
