do you suggest that i get a less powerful air pump or a smaller airstone....... or that i just return it all and rely only on my filter for aeration....

You have well water? That would be why you wouldn't need to. I wouldn't recommend people not to as a lot of people have municipal water which requires dechlorination.

no i have regular tap water, maybe my fish are just beasts who can take a little chlorine

You should put the LMB in your house for the first 2-3 years (They should grow faster if it is a black bass). He will train well and become as responsive to feedings as your koi. Don't put him back in with your koi until it is about 12-14 inches (which will be about 2-3 years) or you will lose him to predatory birds (I learned that the hard way). Once the LMB is house trained he will still be a wet pet in the pond.

LMB aren't aggressive. They are predators that will actively hunt and chase smaller fish but will tolerate others. Unless it is a female with a clutch of eggs and the tank is too small for her to make a nice territory.

This one was 2" when I got him. I kept the water at 82 degrees and fed tons of high protein food: earthworms, night crawlers, crickets, crayfish, and krill. He was 9 inches when I took this picture about a year and a half ago. I was going to give him to the local Bass Pro Shop for their display but released him into my pond this year. He was 15 inches and 2 lbs.
