I use them for making "backups" of DVDs. They're updated about once a month so I've never gotten a DVD that I couldn't do... Free Video Converter is one I use to convert stuff.

I had mine do it before on my laptop and on my TV. They would just keep spinning. I had to unplug the TV to even get that one out. Mine just stopped doing it all of a sudden. Have you tried a different blank DVD?
i have gone through 7 of the blank dvd's and i really doubt that it is the media for that reason. plus, i have a full dvd that i burned on the same type of media from the same package. i find it very unlikely that all the other blanks would be faulty
Not if they're Sony. I know when I used to use cheap brand DVDs, a lot of them were faulty. I don't know what it could be...
Try going to the manufacturer and updating the firmware for the burner itself. I had a
nice pioneer years ago but it would not burn on DVD+R. Upgraded the firmware and
Bam worked great afterwards.
Not saying it will in your case but its worth a try.

ironically, even though its a samsung drive, samsungs website doesnt have a listing for the specific model i have 
just updating the firmware is a PITA!
