i know, you would think so, but it is supposed to support dvd-r, has burned both a data and a movie dvd-r, and it would shock me if they overlooked making a brand like SONY compatible for the media
just checking you did use the exact same dvds from the the container to successfully burn movies or did you use ones from another sony brand pack?(btw i once got a dvd burner 1/3 the normal price back when they were new tech at a computer show and it supported only a few popular brands and alot of weird ones, guy also gave me nero for free lol)

have you tried burning another movie now? it may be format related as nero(no not the same one i got from the guy lol) or some others have been really *****y with me before

it is from the same exact media pack. surprisingly, now that you mention it, i think it was nero that last successfully burned a dvd for me. i will test it out again, but i can assure you that the very same package will not work as did before...... puzzling that the media is now not working

this forum may help, thats where i learned to edit my dvd firmware to support unsupported formats, and unsupported speeds.

Never heard of a burner not supporting a brand, just formats like DVD+R or such.
And usually they all support DVD-R which was the original/most common format
in the beginning.
Many brands are made by the same manufacturer and are sold to other companies
and they just slap their labels on them.

Have you tried SlySoft's Clone DVD2, If not you can go there and download it free for
21 days. See if it works instead of Nero. I had issues with Nero 7 onetime
and through research I found the upgrade had a error with my version of windows.
So I rolled back drivers to Nero 6 Ultra and it fixed the issue.
Its what I use now, actually I use all their Software (SlySoft) since I purchased it with
the free updates for life. Now it is annual.

this is perplexing..... i just successfully ripped and copied a data dvd using nero 9. but when i tried to burn the data from the original folders, it said the media didn't have enough space (i tried 3 different blanks) even though the space used was only 2.7 GB
