Help with my RTC please.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Actually, a lot of people have done this, and I've never heard anything about pool liner failing. Even IKeepPacu has done it, and he (as his name suggests) keeps Pacu, which chew all over the place, and he had no problem. This is a great, cheap alternative, and could hold your RTC for life, along with a few (big) buddies.

Although, I'm sure it would have to be replaced after a few years, so your idea of just using it as a temporary fix would probably be better.

yea i think the rtc would be happier in a 7000 gallon pond then a 2200 pond. The bigger the better i always say.

I think this sounds good, and you're right, they should be on sale right now. Just remember that you still have to filter it, so you may find yourself tinkering with the filtration on the temp. pond for a while until you feel comfortable in doing the big one. Our filtration plans changed about ten times in the planning stages, and even after the pond was built.

one idea for your large scale filter is sump pumps for houses, i am building a big tank and going to use 4 of them, cheap with high gph, i have seen some with 4000gph for like $150 at menards or less...to put them in just get flower pots(the big black ones with vertical slits down the side) then you could pack them in with sponges then run the lines to an elivated stock tank filled with meadia with a spilway to the tank/pond...thats what i am going to do and if you need more meadia then just put another stock tank fill with meadia before the pond...
