I agree. Chopped red wigglers mixed in with bloodworms.

usually you can get them at a bait shop and sometimes at walmart

Update
Eel eats like a champ, trying to vary diet so I’ll definitely take all the suggestions, gonna try earthworms cause right now it eats frozen bloodworms (not much nutrition though) flakes and sinking shrimp pellets. Super active as soon as I walk by all over the glass, fearless never hides even from the 6-inch blood parrot. Hand trained already just so much fun

This is one of the few non-cichlid/polypterus fish I get jealous of...
