Help with Red tail Cat !

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea he's about 3.5 foot long. Best guess is around 80lbs. Never weighed it tho. We are in south jersey and when the hurricane knocked out power, monster fish were lost. This guy was very well fed.

This is my RTC tho. He's only 18" now. But he went from 2" to 18" in less than 6 months. The hikari sinking carnivore pellets will make him grow insanely fast. Also don't worry about what people say concerning food. Goldfish are fine, animal protein is fine. RTC are opportunistic eaters and anything from shrimp and pellets, to mice and rabbits are totally fine. People get snobbish about their fish but they forget that in the amazon, anything that falls in the river is fair game.

If anything comes in beat up or ugly, he gets a go at em. He eats ANYTHING. I mean octopus, koi, big catfish, pacu, piranha, anything. If it doesn't sell or looks bad, he swallows it.

A shop around here had a huge RTC and they did the same...except for one day one of the noobies on staff threw a poisonous fish into the tank, and the RTC ended up belly up. I'm sure you guys are careful about what you throw in there, but make sure the new hires know that they can't just throw anything into the tank.

Thanks for sharing the pix...he's a real monster.

Aww that sucks man. And no, nobody feeds him unless the boss doesn't think its food is sellable. Lol he won't be eating any fugu. He gets everything except things like blowfish, lionfish, boxfish, or anything that is obviously sick or has parasites. But when you order 50 oscars or jags, and they start growing before you sell them, the big guy eats well.
