Depends on location, I'd suggest keeping fish local to your area. If you're some place warm you can keep tropical fish like Pacu, Aros, Gar, Basically anything. But in the colder areas you're really limited. Probably only Sturgeon, Koi, certain bass and Goldfish

You just said "instead of koi"

You can get a sterlet- they only get 3 feet.

How big is this pond, and is it a preform?

cat fish. Its like a 300 gallon

2 koi? How about no koi. Koi can get huge rather fast, and need a lot of swimming space, or will jump. And 300 is not even remotely enough of room.

You could possibly go with a catfish of some sort? Or maybe a large cichlid?

Fancy goldfish would be ideal- Fantails, orandas, shubunkins etc..

i was like that. "besides koi". Have you ever tried Koi? i did before got tired of him and he eventually died. Cause i kept him solo but i never went back untill begining of this Dec. I decied what the hell try it again, exept with 10 koi. I actually loved them!! when they come up to feed they are beast and when they dont have the food they are always moving. Anyway if you did try good for you atleast you tried and you didnt like it. hmm its 300g so no sturgeon i'd say some bass, or some brook trout. you can try bunch of Minnows. whats your filteration? i could tell you alot more i just need to know your filteration for that size of a pond.

and by koi i mean any goldfish types. or if you are crazy as me i once had a tropical pond 300gal just like you with Bala Sharks. If you want i could tell you how to make a Aro pond.

Koi and goldfish are 2 completely different species.. They don't even have the same physical structure. haha.
