Oh where can i get real japanese koi?
How can you tell the difference from Karp Koi and Japanese Koi ?:

"carp koi" and "japanese koi" - just from that statement, stick with goldfish.

Koi are Carp, and there is no real way to tell japanese from american bred.

Koi should get fed about 3 times a day. They grow about 1-2 inches a month.

You simply don't have enough of room. Nuff said.

actually i do when they grow around 2 feet ill just sell them or give them to another buddy with the 3.5k pond

A 12 " koi is required to have 500 gallons of swim room. You really do not have the room at all.

Get over yourself, and stop telling us you have the room when you really don't.

You stick koi in that tank, and you're gonna find out just how quick they will die on you. Ulcers, fin rot, mouth rot... You're gonna be doing 50% water changes pretty much every day.

Koi are dirty. Worse than common plecos. They need to be fed more than once a day or they're gonna be lethargic, and be living a depleted quality of life.

Think about the fish, and not yourself, and just get something that will fit.

hey i have 4 kois in there and its been 2 months and they are living great... no problems at all and thanks for the advice guys. I will keep up the updates and i dont feed the kois they eat the plants inside my pond... haha feed it 3 times a day.. ^^ that is kinda over feeding honestly. I have never heard feeding koi 3 times a day. I live in SoCal so the water is around 40-50 degree haha they love the water and is doing great. The pond is around 2-3.5 feet deep and 8-10 feet wide. I change the water once a month. I will update keep an update on the pond this week.

That's great. Kois are pretty hardy and Southern California weather makes it easy. I've seen many small ponds with koi in them. You should check out the San Diego koi show Feb 17. Lots of Japanese kois for sale. I'll be there. Actually been there for the past 10 years. My koi pond has a whole bunch of tors and barbs in it right now. They do great in cold water. Don't put cichlids it's too cold for them.
