Yup! Jcardona for sticky and MOD!

Seriously it would be an awesome way to show and learn more about both. My tank is plumbed and filling up. Wish me luck

Best of luck for sure! Looking foward to seeing the progress

Got I going. I actually got it stable w a ball valve. I'm running a quiet one 9000 at about 2000gph at 4'.

The quiet one is loud as heck.

One last question, should one 90 account for 1' of head loss?

Thats the info I got from chompers when designing mine. About a foot loss per each 90 is a safe bet. I hate to hear your q1 9000 is so loud. Im going to run 2 q1 6000's on mine.

Well, at least I got all my plumbing right, but after playing around a little, I completely turned off the herbie syphon and my regular durso is keeping up w the q1 9000! Not good. I bought all this stuff used, but the tank was never filled and both pumps were still new in box, so maybe I got a dud? I have another q1 9000 that I'll try out in the morning

yeah somethings amiss. I would definately check the other pump out. Good luck!

According to what I've read at multiple places online multiple times a 1" bulkhead can only handle roughly 600 GPH when gravity fed, however having increased pressure on top of it (1.5" standpipe) you can increase your GPH.

I imagine your head height with elbows included is somewhere around the 7' range so roughly speaking your quiet one 9000 should be pumping close to 1500 GPH.

All the personal experience with gravity fed drains that I've had is that most of the time they will handle almost any flow but they become unbearable noisy.

Now I don't know if this is the case with your emergency drain or not, is it loud when you have your siphon closed?

It could also be that you have a faulty pump. However I wouldn't rule out anything until you know for sure.

Before I had a herbie on my 240 and I had just durso standpipes 1.25" they could handle a whole lot of flow but it sounded like a giant whirlpool in my living room constantly.
