Please be sure to defrost any frozen foods. It isdn't good for their gut to eat food that is still frozen. Defrost in tank water with a few drops of liquid fish vitamins.
FEEDING YOUR PUFFER
INTERNAL PARASITES
Same with anyfish my friend :)

I know it helps with teeth but i wouldnt do it either and you risk chipping them aswell causing my health problems.

Good write up. I don't know why these fish aren't talked about more. To me they seem to be the perfect size, they have a great personality, other than the fact that 90% of them need to be solo I don't know why these guys don't seem to get that much attention.

More like 99%.

That maybe true it definately is for mine , but it seems there are a couple on this web site and others that are in community tanks. 90%-99% good enough for government work.

About the frozen ship thing, do as you wish i just don't see how eating and digesting sharp clam shells is any better than frozen shimp that literally melts after 2 mins. A far as the fish i kept, I sold my largest fahaka after a year, which was about 3 years ago... The person that bought the fish from me lives close so I go to check it out every once and a while, it's fully grown now and it beautiful... He uses the same method I did. I'm not saying it's the best, and I'm not sure it will work for every fahaka... i do know that there is a four year old fahaka they is still going strong on this diet.

As for why they are not popular, i know that in Toronto they are very difficult to come by, once every two years they pop up... this might be why, not exactly sure.... I do know that people are alittle sketchy when having to designate an entire tank to one fish... this would be no problem for me though cu they are entirely worth it.

1-4 years isn't that long, considering they live into their teens. What about all your other fahakas? Didn't you say you raised several?

True,,,

And Fahaka are popular they seem to be up there with Mbu in my eyes
Freshwater puffers although common just seem to be ignored by alot of people. Some of my friends were shocked to hear of fw puffers. Granted they are not as into the hobby as myself I am surprised to find out people have heard of fw stingrays but not puffers.
